THE BRIEF
Vone Clothing is an Indonesian fashion brand that focused on print works on their clothing collection. The Spring Summer collection theme was Butterfly and I'm one of the appointed textile designer / illustrator to do this project.
THE DESIGN CONCEPT
My pattern illustration idea was based on the butterfly anatomy and body parts especially focused on the wings. Butterfly wings are made of hardened membrane, strengthened by veins and covered by tiny scales. Each scale is a single color. The intricate design of butterfly wings are produced by thousand of scales, arrayed in complex patterns and overlapping one another like shingles on a roof.
The color chosen was based on basic RGB color combination from red, green, blue and a hint of yellow. The collection was presented at Indonesia Fashion Week 2014 and the collection was sold through online and Fashion First Jakarta. Furthermore, the clothes was worn by some local and international artist such as Ayu Dewi, Ashanty, Isyana Sarasvati, Dania Jramirez, and Keltie Knight to name a few.
